Rep. Artur Davis was interviewed about the state of race relations in the U.S. and the future of the Democratic Party. The congressman is in his 2nd term representing Alabama’s west central 7th district which includes Selma, Tuscaloosa and parts of Birmingham. He talked about his background, education, and his first attempts at running for political office. He also discussed his ideas for reducing poverty, gaining better education in poor neighborhoods, and strengthening the family unit. He is co-chairman of the moderate-oriented New Democrat Coalition.
