Thomas Friedman talked about his book The World Is Flat: A Brief History of the Twenty-First Century, published by Farrar, Straus and Giroux. He discussed the successes and discontents of globalization and how governments and societies must adapt to the changes in the global scene. After his presentation he responded to questions and comments from members of the audience.
After the discussion, scenes of the book fair along the National Mall were shown before Mr. Friedman was interviewed. Telephone lines were open for viewer questions and comments.
