On August 28th, 1955 fourteen year-old Emmett Till was killed allegedly for whistling at a white woman outside a grocery store in Money, Mississippi. The book is a collection of poems created as a written memorial to the boy whose death, 50 years ago year, would later be seen as a catalyst for the Civil Rights movement.
