State Opening of Parliament

Members of the House of Lords and House of Commons participated in the State Opening of Parliament in London. The Queen outlined the government’s plan for the upcoming year, which included implementing national ID cards, creating new measures to ban smoking in some public places and creating tougher penalties for using a knife or gun during a crime.
