Supreme Court Justice Sandra Day O’Connor spoke about the relationship of international law to the U.S. Supreme Court at the dedication ceremony for the Eric E. Hotung International Law Center Building at Georgetown University Law Center

Videotapes were shown of messages from Baroness Hale of the British High Court of Justice speaking from the House of Lords in London and from Justice Kirby speaking from the High Court of Australia in Canberra. Baroness Hale spoke about the need for appreciating the differences between countries and their differing legal models. Justice Kirby spoke about how the principles of international law can affect local law.
