In a discussion entitled, “Understanding Islam: How Books Can Foster Dialogue in a Faith-Fractured World,” panelists talked about the messages of, and motivations behind, their books. They also addressed the role of books in public discussions about Islam. Lynn Garrett moderated the panel. Following prepared remarks, the panelists responded to questions from the audience.

Feisal Abdul Rauf is the author of What’s Right with Islam: A New Vision for Muslims and the West, published by Harper San Francisco. Asma Gull Hasan wrote Why I Am a Muslim: An American Odyssey, published by Element Books. John L. Esposito is the author of Unholy War: Terror in the Name of Islam, published by Oxford University Press. close
