Mr. King talked about his book, Skeletons on the Zahara: A True Story of Survival, published by Little Brown and Company. The author told the true story of sea captain James Riley and his crew and showed a videotape of the areas described in the book. Captain Riley’s merchant ship, the Commerce, left Connecticut in May 1815 and ran aground off the coast of Africa several months later. Captain and crew were sold into slavery and forced to travel across the Sahara Desert. After his presentation the author answered audience members' questions.
