Prior to the panel discussion Abigail and Stephan Thernstrom, co-authors of No Excuses: Closing the Racial Gap in Learning, were interviewed about the Brown v. Board of Education U.S. Supreme Court decision.
Panel members talked about the history and results of the Brown v. Board of Education U.S. Supreme Court decision. Topics included the racial segregation still existing 50 years after the decision, as in education. Mr. Smiley wrote Keeping the Faith: Stories of Love, Courage, Healing and Hope from Black America. Mr. Cose wrote Bone to Pick: Of Forgiveness, Reconciliation, Reparation, and Revenge.
