Panelists, some of whom met with exiled Haitian president Jean-Bertrand Aristide in the Central African Republic earlier that week, talked about their visit, Aristide’s status, and the situation in Haiti. They accused the U.S. government of subverting and kidnapping the democratically-elected leader, criticized U.S. policy toward Haiti, and demanded that Aristide be restored to power.
