Following opening remarks by sponsoring officials at a day-long symposium on former House speakers, former congressman and others talked about the speakership of Former Representative Tip O’Neill. They talked about their experiences in the House, partisan battles, and his political style. Following their remarks they answered questions from the audience. Mr. Hymel, a former aide to Representative O’Neill, moderated the session.
