Former Vice President Gore talked about civil liberties and efforts to combat terrorism. In his remarks he criticized the Bush administration for exploiting the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks on the U.S. in order to suspend several domestic freedoms and build a government built on “secrecy and deception.” He also called for the repeal of the Patriot Act and a return to policies that protected privacy and civil liberties.
