On September 25, the Democratic National Committee hosted a dinner for the Democratic presidential candidates in New York City. This dinner was the second in a series with the candidates. Speeches were given by Senator Lieberman, Rep. Gephardt, Senator Kerry, retired general Wesley Clark, Mr. Franken, and Mr. McAuliffe. Primarily, the speakers criticized President Bush and his policies.

On September 23, Vice President Cheney spoke at a reception for a Bush-Cheney 2004 fundraiser in Manchester, New Hampshire. After an introduction by Governor Benson, Vice President Cheney talked about the accomplishments of the Bush administration, including efforts in areas such as homeland security, the war on terrorism, and the economy. The event raised about $250,000 for the campaign.
