The 4th Annual Justice John Paul Stevens Awards were presented to Judge Joel Flaum, Chief Judge of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 7th Circuit; Judge Earl Strayhorn of the Cook County Circuit Court (Retired); and former Illinois governor James Thompson. Following the award presentations, Justice Stevens made remarks. Among the issues he talked about were the University of Michigan admissions policy cases decided by the Supreme Court the previous June.
