Randolph “Mike” Campbell is a professor of history at the University of North Texas, and the author or co-author of seven books on 19th century Texas history. In Gone To Texas, he examined the history of Texas from the first inhabitants of the area 12,000 years ago through the present day. Using the story of the nation’s second largest state, Professor Campbell told the larger stories of the state’s embodiment of American ideals and its appeal to immigrants seeking opportunity.
