Mr. Brookhiser talked about his biography Gentleman Revolutionary: Gouverneur Morris, the Rake Who Wrote the Constitution, published by Free Press. Gouverneur Morris was the one legged colonial aristocrat from New York who drafted the U.S. Constitution at the age of 35, and created the phrase “We the people.” Mr. Morris also helped create the Erie Canal and assisted the French as a diplomat during the French Revolution. After his presentation, Mr. Brookhiser answered questions from members of the audience.
