The book begins by examining the 1952 Louisiana court battle of a black family who desperately wanted to adopt a biracial child. The book also covers the well-known interracial relationship of Thomas Jefferson and Sally Hemings. Mr. Kennedy explores how interracial relationships have affected society and American culture.
