President Mbeki gave his annual State of the Nation address at the state opening of Parliament in Cape Town. Among the issues he talked about were Iraqi disarmament, increasing black economic empowerment, and wealth distribution. President Mbeki was elected in June 1999 and is up for re-election in 2004.
