Before an audience at Columbia College, the candidates debated many issues, including the confirmation of federal judges, minimum wage, qualifications for office, drilling in the Artic, reparations for slavery, education, trade promotion authority, Iraq, John Ashcroft, gun control, and abortion. Mr. Charton moderated the debate. The candidates responded to questions from the panel and voters.
