Mr. Goldenson discussed his book, Beating the Odds: The Stars, Struggles, and Egos that Transformed Network Television. He said the book is meant to be an instructive history, mainly for ABC’s affiliates, of the steps that were taken to build ABC Inc. The information comes from his personal memories as well as over 110 interviews conducted by Marvin Wolf of people closely involved with ABC. Mr. Goldenson is considered the father of ABC as well as a strong influence on the development of television as a mass communication medium. He chronicles each decade of his involvement with the network, and the types of programming and people which dominated each era. close
