At the beginning of this segment, Siobham Gorman participated via telephone and described the process of processing a visa. Then the guests discussed homeland security and visa processing. Telephone lines were opened for audience comments. 

This morning’s guests will help kick off Washington Journal’s series on the proposed Department of Homeland Security. This week the Journal will focus on the proposed sub-department of Border and Transportation Security, starting with the issue of visa processing (currently handled by the State Department and Immigration Services, currently under the Department of Justice.) Throughout the week, guests will also discuss issues on Border Security, Transportation Security, and the Coast Guard.
