As part of a University of Virginia sponsored conference on the Civil War battle of Fredericksburg, Virginia, teaching faculty took part in a discussion of about 25 recently published Civil War books. The panelists have written many books on the subject, including Professor Robert K. Krick’s The Smoothbore Volley that Doomed the Confederacy, Professor Rable’s Fredericksburg! Fredericksburg!, Mr. Robert E. L. Krick’s 40th Virginia Infantry, Mr. Bergen’s The Other Hero of Cedar Creek: The ‘Not Specially Ambitious’ Horatio G. Wright and Professor Carmichael’s Lee’s Young Artillerist. The panel was moderated by Mr. Gallagher, author of many books, including The Confederate War. After the discussion, the panelists answered questions from members of the audience.
