Witnesses testified about the problem of abuse and neglect of the elderly, concentrating on the extent of the problem and programs to provide “elder justice.” Among the topics they addressed were the degree to which health care, social service and law enforcement officials understood their role in preventing abuse, prevention programs, and potential programs to punish those responsible.
