Author Raymond Strother talked about his memoir Falling Up: How a Redneck Helped Invent Political Consulting, published by Louisiana State University Press. Mr. Strother was one of the first modern political consultants, starting out on the corrupt campaign trails of Louisiana in the 1960s and graduating to big-time senatorial and congressional races of the 1970s and early 1980s and to Gary Hart’s 1984 campaign for president. He also talked about Presidents Clinton and Bush and other political consultants, as well as making an assessment of what has gone wrong with political campaigns. close
