Queen Elizabeth addressed the Jamaican Parliament. Jamaica was the first stop on her tour of the Commonwealth nations to celebrate her 50th year as head of the British monarchy. The Queen addressed members from both houses of parliament in Kingston on Tuesday, February 19. It was Queen Elizabeth’s sixth visit to the nation and her third time speaking before the Jamaican Parliament. Jamaica, a former British colony, gained independence within the Commonwealth in 1962.
