Ms. Decter spoke about her book An Old Wife's Tale: My Seven Decades in Love and War, published by Regan Books. The book is a chronicle of her life since the 1940s, including her roles as single parent, publishing executive, spouse, conservative, and grandmother; as well as a portrait of American culture during the same time period. Throughout the narrative Ms. Decter expresses her opinion on such topics as the relationship between the sexes, the 1960s and '70s women's movement, and communists. She also reacted to video clips of the appearances on "Booknotes" of her husband Norman Podhoretz in 1999 and her son John Podhoretz in 1993.
