Dr. Satel, a practicing psychiatrist, talked about her book, PC, M.D.: How Political Correctness Is Corrupting Medicine, published by Basic Books. The book argues that the intrusion of political correctness into medicine is creating a toxic system of medical care. She asserts that the trend toward taking race, sexual orientation and oppression by society into account when organizing treatment is deflects the focus from science-based healing and prevention. Dr. Satel argues that medical practice of this nature diverts taxpayer money that could be better spent improving the delivery of health care, providing proven therapies and researching new ones. She talked about victimology, multiculturalism, the rejection of fixed truths and individual autonomy, and the consequences of putting politics before health.
