Ms. Yoder discusses her biography, George Washington, the Writer, with students. Saying that George Washington kept journals and diaries, wrote letters, prepared speeches, and official documents throughout his life. Ms. Yoder has selected writings that range from personal and familial to national in focus. Presented chronologically, the documents begin with a journal entry written at age sixteen and end with his last diary entry written the day before he died. She wrote introductions for each document that provide the historical, personal and political context in which it was written. Period engravings, etchings and portraits illustrate the volume.
