Gregg Kimball discussed some of the themes of his book American City, Southern Place: A Cultural History of Antebellum Richmond, published by the University of Georgia Press. The book describes the social and cultural life of Virginia’s capital in the period before the Civil War. In his talk, Mr. Kimball focuses on antebellum Virginia’s militias. After his presentation, Mr. Kimball answered questions from members of the audience. close
