Justices heard oral arguments in the case of George W. Bush v. Palm Beach County Canvassing Board focusing on whether manual recounts of votes in the presidential election were either required or warranted. Justices' questions focused on whether the Florida Supreme Court had changed Florida law by extending the deadline for certification of the vote; whether the Florida secretary of state had correctly used her discretion by not accepting late votes; and whether a Supreme Court ruling would make a difference in the case in light of current contests to the election.

Justice Thomas did not question any of the lawyers.

This program was presented in an audio format with still screen photographs and artist renderings of courtroom proceedings.
