Using information from questionnaires and interviews with students, faculty and college administrators, Professor Sperber asserted that many schools no longer give a majority of their undergraduates a meaningful education. He believes the schools substitute a party atmosphere to keep their students happy. Professor Sperber explained the origins of beer and circus; the epidemic of student binge drinking on campus; and the four cultures found on campus: collegiate, academic, rebel and vocational.
