The USS Wyoming and its crew were profiled through footage shot while the submarine was at sea for training. The Wyoming is an Ohio-class fleet ballistic missile submarine, with 24 missile tubes and 4 torpedo tubes. The mission of the Wyoming and her sister subs is to deter aggression through nuclear deterrence. These subs, known as “Boomers” in Navy jargon, patrol for long periods while submerged, hiding from detection until they can release their payload. The Ohio class is the largest U.S. submarine, 560 feet long with a displacement of 18,750 tons.

Studio guests talked about submarine operations, life aboard a submarine, and answered viewer questions about the submarine force. Additionally, several taped interviews with crewmembers and their families were shown which focused on operations within various compartments of the submarine, daily life aboard the submarine, and how submarine service affected family life.
