Participants talked about recent scholarship revealing strong ties between communists in the U.S. and Soviet authorities in the early stages of the Cold War. In light of the research they also examined the accuracy and intent of Senator McCarthy’s investigations of communists in the United States. Following their remarks they answered questions from the audience.
