The book is not only a history of the author’s own and his wife’s families but is also an examination of the Irish Diaspora and the Irish people. He talked about one of his ancestors who was convicted of sedition and transported to Australian as a convict and another who escaped from Australia to the United States and became a general in the Civil War.
