State Opening of the Scottish Parliament
Following a royal procession Queen Elizabeth II officially opened the new Scottish Parliament. This was the first Scottish Parliament since James I ascended the British throne in 1707. Following the Queen’s speech and presentation of a mace, there was a celebratory procession through the streets of Edinburgh.
