House and Senate Appropriations Committee members met to discuss the 1999 Supplemental Appropriations Bill. The bill would allow for $11.6 billion to fund the action in Yugoslavia, as well as a number of measures to pay for Pentagon programs. The funds sought by congressional members is twice what President Clinton had asked for to offset the expense of Operation Allied Force. During the course of the meeting House and Senate members voted separately on whether to accept several amendments to the bill.
