President Clinton talked with reporters about how to strengthen Medicare using part of the budget surplus. He commented on the work he has done since 1993 to improve Medicare. He mentioned the problems with Senator Breaux’s proposal for improving Medicare. The president said that his thoughts and prayers are with those involved in the Amtrak train crash near Chicago.
