Participants discussed a plan proposed by Senator Breaux to remodel Medicare in the image of the Federal Employees Health Benefits Program. The program would offer a fixed amount of money to each beneficiary to enroll in a private health plan or the regular Medicare plan. The commission also agreed to work past its deadline so that they could discuss proposals to cover prescription drugs. close
