The Senate concluded the impeachment trial of President Clinton with final votes on the articles of impeachment. Article I, perjury, failed to receive a two-thirds majority by a vote of 45 to 54. Article II, obstruction of justice, failed to receive a two-thirds majority by a vote of 50 to 50. Following the votes Chief Justice Rehnquist made a brief statement about the decorum of the Senate during the trial. After a few matters of business and a presentation to the Chief Justice, the trial adjourned. The Senate then continued with business.
