The committee discussed campaign finance reform legislation and proposals. The committee considered ways to amend the enforcement provisions of current legislation to provide for the disclosure of independent expenditures or "soft money". Members also looked at ideas for amending the Federal Election Campaign Act to provide comprehensive campaign finance reform. This would lessen the power of special interest groups.
