Senator Glenn reacted to the news of the death of Alan Shepard, the first American to fly in space. Senator Glenn was part of the group of astronauts called the Mercury 7, which also included Mr. Shepard. Senator Glenn will be traveling in space again this fall as a member of a Space Shuttle crew. Following his prepared statement, Senator Glenn answered questions from the media.
