Governor Wilson spoke about California Proposition 226, which would require unions and employers to obtain written consent from members before using their dues for political activities. He said that the law provides workers with choices of which, if any, political candidates and issues, to support financially, but does not interfere with union representation of employees to employers. He stressed that unions will forcefully challenge the measure and urged those in the audience to help pass the initiative. He also took questions from the audience on this and other topics.
