      <title>U.S.-Russia Trade Relations</title>
      <description>Participants spoke about trade relations with Russia and proposals for a Permanent Normal Trade Relationship (PNTR) as a means to improve American businesses and the economy. They responded to questions from the audience. Congress will consider the PNTR legislation along with the Magnitsky bill that addresses the death of Sergei Magnitsky and deny visas to Russian officials accused of human rights violations. Sergei Magnitsky was arrested for exposing government corruption and died while in prison. The passage of this legislation is harshly criticized by the Kremlin and could hurt relations between the two countries.</description>

      <description>Six former U.S. trade representatives discussed U.S. options for expanding trade with countries in Asia, the Middle East, Europe and elsewhere. Several speakers were critical of the Obama administration, saying it lacks a comprehensive trade policy. Topics included recently announced high-level trade talks between the U.S. and Europe, China's fiscal policy and its effects on neighboring countries and international economics, and the Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP). TPP is a multi-lateral free-trade agreement, originally signed by Brunei, Singapore, New Zealand and Chile in 2005.</description>

      <title>U.S.- Colombia Free Trade Agreement</title>
      <description>A video journalist traveled to various parts of Colombia to document conditions in the country, conducted interviews with local officials and a Congressional Delegation to Colombia led by the U.S. Trade Representative, Susan Schwab, as well as examined the potential impact a free trade agreement would have on Colombia.
 
 Ambassador Schwab and nine members of Congress traveled to Medellin and Cartagena, Colombia, on April 4-6, 2008, the weekend before the President sent the trade agreement to Capitol Hill on April 7th. When the program aired, the House had voted to remove the timetable for consideration of the trade deal.</description>

      <title>U.S. Trade Representative Nomination Hearing</title>
      <description>The Senate Finance Committee held a hearing on the confirmation of the nomination of Susan Schwab to be U.S. trade representative. In he testimony she responded to questions on such issues as forcing the Chinese to revalue their currency and American bank operations in China. She pledged to "rigorously enforce" U.S. trade laws and said beefed-up enforcement efforts regarding China were already beginning to yield results with a several agreements announced last month before Chinese President Hu Jintao's visit to the White House. She also responded o questions about World Trade Organization operations and Brazil and India's opposition to trade proposals to be discussed in negotiations in Doha, Saudi Arabia.</description>
