      <title>Q&amp;A with Alfredo Quinones-Hinojosa</title>
      <description>Dr. Alfredo QuiÃ±ones-Hinojosa talked about his new memoir, [Becoming Dr. Q], which details his entry into the U.S. as an illegal, unemployed, homeless migrant farm worker who struggled to learn English, become a citizen, and put himself through school to eventually become a brain surgeon. He recounted the 120-hour work weeks he put in as a resident internist. He talked about his current role in battling brain cancer as the director of the Johns Hopkins University Brain Tumor Stem Cell Lab.
Alfredo QuiÃ±ones-Hinojosa is an associate professor of Neurosurgery and Oncology at Johns Hopkins University and has an established private practice, performing close to 250 surgeries per year. He graduated cum laude from Harvard University Medical School and completed his residency at the University of California, San Francisco. He directs the Brain Tumor Surgery Program at Johns Hopkins' Bayview Hospital.</description>
