      <title>Berlin Crisis of 1961</title>
      <description>A panel of historians and Central Intelligence Agency personnel talked about the Berlin crisis of 1961. Their discussion revolved around the confrontation between Soviet and U.S. tanks at Checkpoint Charlie at the Berlin Wall on October 27, 1961. The panelists also responded to questions from members of the audience. Donald Steury moderated.
"From Vienna to Checkpoint Charlie: The Berlin Crisis of 1961" was a conference held by the National Archives Declassification Center and the CIA Historical Review Program in the National Archives' McGowan Theater to mark the 50th anniversary of the Berlin crisis of 1961.</description>

      <title>National Declassification Center Process</title>
      <description>Supervisory Archivist Neil Carmichael explained the mission of the National Declassification Center and the process of reviewing and releasing historic declassified government records to the public. Their is a backlog of over 408 million pages of classified government records waiting to be processed by the National Declassification Center. President Obama set a deadline in 2013 for reviewing these historic government records that date back as far as World War I. Mr. Carmichael illustrated his lecture with charts and responded to questions from members of the audience.
This was a weekly "Know Your Records" program of the National Archives.</description>
