      <description>The Democratic Platform Committee considered and adopted the platform for the Democratic Party Convention. Every four years, the Democratic National Convention adopts a new national platform which is an official statement of the Democratic Party's position on a variety of issues. The Platform Committee is responsible for drafting and recommending a proposed national platform to the Democratic National Convention for approval by the delegates.</description>

      <title>Democratic National Committee: National Convention Platform Cmte. Meeting</title>
      <description>The Platform Committee will consider and adopt the platform for the Democratic Party Convention. Every four years, the Democratic National Convention adopts a new national platform which is an official statement of the Democratic Party s position on a variety of issues. The Platform Committee is responsible for drafting and recommending a proposed national platform to the Democratic National Convention for approval by the delegates. 
The Platform Committee will be chaired by Newark, NJ Mayor Cory Booker and Lt. Gen. Claudia Kennedy (Ret.). At this meeting, members will discuss and amend the draft platform as well as vote on a final version to present to convention delegates in Charlotte, North Carolina. The draft platform was created by the Platform Drafting Committee in Minneapolis in July.</description>

Moderator Al Sharpton also interviewed the mother of Amadou Diallo and the former fiancÃ©e of Sean Bell who were both killed by New York Police Department officers in separate incidents. He also took questions from audience members, some of whom shared their personal stories involving police brutality and racial profiling.</description>
