      <description>The House Committee Financial Services Oversight and Investigations Subcommittee held a hearing on the bankruptcy of financial firm MF Global. Witnesses said that of the approximately $1.4 billion in customer funds, about 70% of the original value of those accounts were expected to be recovered. MF Global filed for bankruptcy October 31 following billions of dollars in losses from failed investments in European debt.</description>
