      <description>Witnesses testified testified about federal and local government responses to emergencies, and about ways to improve response time after catastrophic disaster. Among the topics addressed were disaster relief and lessons learned from the Federal Emergency Management Agency's (FEMA) efforts following Hurricane Katrina. Of particular concern were temporary housing issues; communication and coordination between local, state, and federal government; and the proper role of FEMA in federal government responses to future disasters.</description>
