<description>President Eisenhower and Vice President Nixon accepted their nominations to be the 1956 Republican candidates for president and vice president. Between the speeches, first lady Mamie Eisenhower was presented with an organ, which she was donating to an Army hospital chapel, and eight-year-old David Eisenhower was made an honorary chair of the convention.
