Rosa Clemente played hip hop music at the beginning and end of her acceptance speech in which she thanked her family and many friends. Ms. Clemente said that Green Party and hip hop values intersect, as both amplify politics, love, and social justice through creative expression. She declared herself part of the hip hop movement "that uses the vote to bring what we need in public policy" and that hip hop theme is "so much more than music." In her acceptance speech Cynthia McKinney decried corporate lobbyists' hold on Washington and said that the Green Party can become a major party by capturing 5% of the vote in the upcoming election.
