      <description>Pulitzer Prize-winning Roosevelt scholar James MacGregor Burns talked with his former student at Williams College, presidential historian and NBC News commentator Michael Beschloss. Topics included Mr. Burns's life and work studying the Roosevelt Era and the special relationship that developed between the two historians. Susan Dunn moderated.

      <title>Moral Character and the Presidency</title>
      <description>This program is part of the "Presidents in Perspective" symposium at Boston College. 
 
 Mr. Gergen moderated a panel discussion called, "U.S. Presidents in Perspective:  The Shifting Fortunes of Presidential Reputations," centering on the issue of moral character in the presidency. The panelists discussed George Washington, Abraham Lincoln, Harry Truman and others in terms of courage, commitment to duty, belief in public values such as life and liberty, and self-restraint.

Ronald Walters wrote [White Nationalism, Black Interests: Conservative Public Policy and the Black Community], published by Wayne State University Press. Douglas Wilson wrote [Honor's Voice: The Transformation of Abraham Lincoln], published by Alfred A. Knopf. David Gergen wrote [Eyewitness to Power.]
